"You Light Me Up" is a journey that started a year and a half ago. I wrote this song at 2 am in my basement over Winter Break in December 2017. Throughout 2018, I spent time expanding, recording, and producing it. I wasn't quite happy with the results, though, so I put it on the shelf until this past May.
Equipped with new knowledge of mixing and producing, I reopened all the files and started working on it again. I was finally able to bring the song out to it's fullest potential. It's quite different than what I've previously released; it's a Big Band song, reminiscent of timeless Frank Sinatra/Crooning tunes or classic Great American Song Book charts. It really swings!
I can't continue, however, without giving my thanks to everyone who helped me on the song:
to Austin Leshock for arranging the horns and playing Tenor Sax,
to Ryan Siegal for playing lead Alto Sax,
to Lauren Reilly for playing Trumpet,
to Ian Lazan for playing Trombone,
and to Haley Amering for playing drums.

September 2019 - I'm very excited to announce that I am the new bass vocalist for the amazing vocal jazz group, Point of Departure. Founded in 2010, Point of Departure is the first and only student-run vocal jazz group at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Comprised of
12 members singing both a cappella and with a rhythm section, Point of Departure has its musical roots buried deep in groups such as Manhattan Transfer, New York Voices, and The Singers Unlimited.
The group has been mentored by members of The New York Voices themselves, as well as the award-winning, internationally touring 6-piece vocal group, Accent. Point of Departure performs from a vast repertoire of jazz standards by renowned songwriters such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Gene Puerling.
Check back soon for news on our upcoming performances. I look forward to the year ahead with this talented group! ~ Kyle
